Is there a purpose for the bow tie and champagne shot? I could understand it if we were going to introduce the waiter as a new character. Having it seem like the waiter dropped the tray because of the father seems distracting because another character is now in on the father's pranks and he runs away. Maybe if we added him as another character show his face and add fun character to him it would work and have him apologizing deeply, as a sincere and kind figure to balance out the father's attacks.
The leaf going down the drain too I feel doesn't serve a purpose.
rather than focusing on how much it sucks for steve and mindy especially. I was left thinking man that waiter sucks for running away. distracting me from the purpose of the scene
Agreed. The boards needed more acting to show Steve being the one to initiate the tray falling. Ran out of time for those extra drawings. The other ambience shots (wine bottle, waiter straightening tie) are also incomplete. We're working on other ways to achieve the same effect - show passage of time between sequences while conveying the stakes of the scene.
