Rough Story Tension graphs

Plans are to update this with a more precise version later in production, but for now, here are some graphs to know tension levels in the story.

All together: BLUE = Tension in Steve/Mindy's Relationship, RED = Dad's frustration GREEN = The average tension from both...the resulting story arc from the combined tension.

Considering the tension of the film and how your contributions fit into the story arc as a whole will help create a cohesive experience for the audience.

Environment update

For those working on the 3D models of the cafe, this is where we are so far with the style:

This version had good negative space above the buildings; it is a good blend of the right focus, rest space, and offset. Needs more rhythm in the skyline.

We liked the variety of shapes and appealing rhythm above the buildings.

Good offset but the lines need more variety. the stretching of the first floor is nice.

DESIGN UPDATE

This is where we are so far in the character and environment designs. We still have a ways to go, but they're coming along so far! Keep up the good work visdev team!

Mindy's personality is pinned down really well in these sketches Alycia did; we are now working on merging this character with a streamlined, Danny-esque style.

Danny has (formerly-known-as) Steve pegged and we will have people working on small style variations as well as his body proportions.

This one had highlighted the idea of using simple and interesting shapes.

This sketch had great quirk and style.

The play of confined and open space worked really well in this exploration.

Here's the second pass of Steve. He's nervously adjusting his clothes and has trouble with his tie. He's trying to shake off his nerves and be ready for a great date!

Here I wanted to show Steve waiting nervously before Mindy opens the door. He's nervous before the date and he wants everything to go well. This isn't the first date, but it's the first time they're going to someplace nice and is hopeful for a future relationship. This time at the door and nervousness also gives Papa something to judge and scrutinize.


It's still a work in progress; at the end I have Mindy open the door and he lights up all happy and walks in the door.
